Background
Before creating Taco Bell, Glen Bell opened Bell’s Drive in and Taco Tio in the San Bernardino area in 1954. In 1962, Bell unveiled the first Taco Bell restaurant in Downey, CA, serving what his customers liked to call “Tay-Kohs.”
Taco Bell became a franchise in 1964 when a retired L.A. Police Officer named Kermit Becky opened a store in Torrance, CA. Taco Bell’s profits climbed to 141 million as of May 2017, an increase from last year’s 118 million. There are more than 7000 locations around the U.S. and the world. They just opened 54 more new restaurants in the first quarter of 2017, with plans to add more.
Taco Bell’s core operating profit rose 19% year-over-year as of May 2017, topping an overall 9% growth for parent company Yum Brands Inc. The Mexican-themed fast food chain’s same-store sales grew 8%, while system-wide sales grew by 12% and they are currently opening more stores.
Why Now?
Taco Bell’s goal is to add 2000 more restaurants and 100,000 more jobs by 2022.

Application Process – What to Expect
It depends on how busy they are, time of year and what position they are hiring for. You can apply online or in person. The online process is simple just enter your zip code and positions nearby will pop up on your screen.
One applicant reported that he was interviewed on the spot when applying in person. Some franchise will hold open interviews on a Sunday from 2-4pm. Be prepared for anything.
Tips For the Interview
You been selected for interview! What next? Do your research on the company. There is a tons of information on the Taco Bell site and the internet. When preparing for the interview, here are some things to keep in mind:
· Arrive on time and be prepared. You want to make a good first impression. Dress appropriately. No shorts, t-shirts or flip flops.
· Make a mental checklist before walking in. Do you have everything you need? Go over your research. Double check your resumes. Did you bring extras? Keep an open mind and don’t stress. Give yourself a pep talk and remind yourself that you have what it takes.
· Anticipate questions they might ask and how you would answer. They often ask, “Why Taco Bell?” – be honest about why Taco Bell may resonate with you. Saying why you like to eat there may score more points than empty data. What makes you special? Be sure to have an answer and know your strengths. Some other questions that may be asked: “How do you handle an angry customer?”, “How do well do you get along with your fellow co-workers?”, “Do you have any past experience in fast food?”. · Remember to ask questions! First, feel free to ask if they’ll be the ones conducting the interview. You can ask them what the job is like on any typical day, benefits, the team dynamic, suggestions about how to get ahead and what the best path would be. Always good info.
