In an interview with ET, Microsoft president and vice-chairman Brad Smith said India has for long been one of the major sources of talent in software and a great creator of software Intellectual Property but is now joining the ranks of the top 2-3 software economies in the world.
Mumbai-based investment fund A91 Partners is in discussions to finance the primary part, three people said. The deal is currently in the due diligence stage, they added on condition of anonymity as the talks are private.

The statement comes after the ED searched half a dozen offices belonging to online payment gateways such as Razorpay, Paytm and Cashfree in Bengaluru in connection with its probe into the Chinese loan app scam. The searches were made under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the agency said in a statement on Saturday.
With the vexed issue now in the spotlight, some industry watchers expect employers to consider extra safeguards to protect proprietary information and operating models, especially where employees are working remotely. Companies, analysts say, could also turn tougher on exclusivity clauses in employment contracts.
